Like other traditional poker variants, Razz is played with two to eight players. It is much like the Seven Card Stud; the distinction is that in Razz, your aim is to make the lowest possible five-card combination in order to win. In Razz, the best card you could possible get is the Ace as it is counted as one. If you want a pair, a pair of ace is the best you could get. Remember that there are no straights or flushes. You do not want the high cards, so don’t be confused. Any high pair will be counted against you in the end, so you can stop wishing for a pair while the cards are dealt.

Let the Game Begin
The game begins with the ante, of course. Each player chips in to the pot in order to participate in the game. Two face down and one face up card is given to each player. The player with the highest face up card will initiate the betting sequence. This first player is not allowed to fold from the beginning, thus, strategy must be employed to win. After this round, the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh round begins, and another round of betting follows each of them respectively. After the final round and if there are still two or more players standing, a showdown occurs. Each player will expose his or her cards, and the player with the lowest hand wins the pot.

This game might be confusing at first, but in the end, you will realize that the game is practically and basically the same with the usual poker variants. It just takes a somewhat different mindset.
